DM info and links for the fall

Exciting news!!!! We have a new 50MB comcast connection and it's working like a charm. Burn it up!

 MCA's online catalogue and resources.

Need to submit a workorder?
"MCA takes pride in the technology, resources and facilities available to our students. We provide easy access and strive to deliver prompt responsiveness to our community's needs. Just go to place a work request and enter the password "MCA" for immediate assistance with facility matters."

Questions about information technology at MCA? go to www.mcalabs.net
This is a great 1st stop for any computer/technology information needed/problem you may be having. The main page includes many links to important online resources and you will find answers to FAQ's. Ian requests more questions...

"I need some questions to actually be asked in order to add them to the Frequently Asked Questions section. So -- if people will email labs@mca.edu with their questions, I'll compile and add them to the FAQ."

Need a server for your class?
Submit a class list in hard copy to Ian's mailbox with a short note of request. You can simply xerox your class roster with a note at the top and place in his box. Please do not email your request. This is really the only thing during the year he requests in hard copy as it is easier to keep track of. Once your request/roster is in his box your server folder should be ready by the end of the next business day. A server folder is a great place to start collecting work from students etc. for SACS.

Want to Connect to the server from home?
Finder | Go | Connect to Server
Enter www.mcalabs.net into the server address box
Then follow the prompt to enter your MCA name and password
Want to Connect at school?
enter the Server Address:
dali.mcalabs.net

Sick of checking your MCA email? Forward it to your gmail account and when you respond using gmail it will appear as if you sent it from your mca email account. Awesome!

We want to encourage instructors to communicate ONLY via the mcastudent.org student email addresses, because at this address, we can actually determine whether or not the email is being sent/received. Whereas we can't verify that for other domains (example: yahoo.com mail was down today -- mail sent to a large portion of yahoo.com email addresses wasn't being received).  We CAN check on delivery from our server.

Offline -- don't forget to program the MCA Emergency security # in your phone. (901)507-3030
